DIY Gift: Hot Cocoa in a Jar

There’s just something about homemade gifts that gives me the warm-fuzzies. Creating something with my hands and then passing it on to my friends really makes me proud of what I’ve put time and effort into! This gift is super easy, edible, and in a mason jar – who doesn’t love that combo?!

I love cuddling up and watching a Christmas movie (preferably Elf) with a warm mug of hot chocolate. Oh my gosh, what else do you need during the holidays?? These little jars are the perfect homemade or last minute gift for your favorite people!

What you’ll need:

4 tbs cocoa powder
4 tbs coconut sugar (regular works too)
8 tbsp powdered milk
mini marshmallows
broken up candy cane
sandwich bags
8 oz mason jars

Combine the cocoa powder, coconut sugar, and powdered milk in a bowl. Whisk together until blended well.

Pour the mixture into one of the mason jars. Press down the powder with a spoon.

Now, add mini marshmallows and candy cane pieces to the corner of the sandwich bag. Twist it off (make sure all the air is squeezed out!), tie with twine, and cut off the excess bag. Put the little baggie in the jar and press it down.

If you want a little decoration on the top of your jar, put a piece of fabric on the lid and twist on the canning ring to secure everything in place. It’ll be easier to adjust the fabric and cut it the way you like one the ring is fastened. I also attached the tag on the jar with a piece of twine!

On the tag that comes with the jar make sure to write “Add 3 tbsp mix to 8 oz hot water of milk” (that’s the most important part!)

Remember: Christmas is only four days away! What homemade gifts do you like to receive – let me know in the comments!
